Planning a fitness trainer approved routine is the first step. When it comes to planning the workouts, whether they are monthly, weekly or yearly there are many things to consider.

  • What types of workout are enjoyable? Anyone that hates running shouldn't make themselves do it. Cardio comes in all forms, walking and hiking being a popular one for all ages.
  • Include a mix of various styles of workouts. A balanced program should include strength, cardio and flexibility in each week.
  • Be sure any goals set are realistic. Fitness trainers suggest making small goals rather than long-term.

Learn about the latest and greatest workout routines. Switching it up keeps it exciting and may help inspire. Here are a few trends that are the most popular as of late. There's a good chance one can find something that they'll love doing outside of sessions with their fitness trainer.

1. HIIT – High-Intensity Interval Training

High-intensity interval training is one workout that's able to be shortened as far as time spent, and still get stunning results. Of course one has to give 100 percent to the workout with no shortcuts. It will help with cardio endurance and body sculpting.

It's incredibly easy to get into as there are bits of rest between each burst of activity. It's also very easy to do at home, there's no need for a gym just use the body, or invest in some affordable hand weights. In the gym, this type of routine is also referred to as Tabata.

Orangetheory

There's been a steadyincrease in Orangetheory Fitness (OTF) classes since 2015. Expect to move through three stations during this workout, they are:

  • Treadmill running
  • Sprints on a rowing machine
  • Strength training

During the workout, individuals use a heart-rate monitor that aligns with a screen in the studio that tells them if they get anywhere from 12 to 2- minutes at 84 to 100 percent of their max heart rate. This is known as the orange zone, and where the workout got its name! Personal fitness trainers stress that this helps promote “after burn,” which is when calories are continually burn after the workout is over.

Join a Class

The main idea of joining a class like yoga, cycling or kickboxing among others is to hold oneself accountable. Having a group of supporting individuals can mean the difference between success and failure. Not to mention, working out with friends is fun! Try something new, like Zumba which is a Latin-inspired dance workout and make new friends.

Joining a class also helps one stick to a schedule, and once friends are made they will be expecting the individual each time. They may get phone calls and texts wondering where they are and let's face it, being wanted feels good!

In any case, developing a routine for workouts is what most fitness trainers stress. It's a little difficult to get going but once one does, they will wonder how they ever went without it. Daily exercise boosts mood, so one can expect to be in a great way whenever they work out. Do the mind and body a favor and secure both a fitness trainer and set up a schedule and get to it!
