Lose Your Belly Fat

Additional Weight Loss Information:

Nowadays, it seems as if there is every kind of diet you can think of, currently available, with many large companies, magazines, and other so-called “fitness experts” talking about how their latest diet is the only diet you will ever need. Needless to say that 90% of the time, these people are talking complete and utter nonsense, as, for the most part at least, these diets are designed to be quick fixes, and are certainly not practical or sustainable for the long term. One type of diet however, that has withstood the test of time over and over again, is a high protein diet, which is what we'll be taking a more direct look at right now.

So, what is a high protein diet? – Well, this may come as a shock to many of you, but surprisingly, a high protein diet is a diet plan which requires followers of the diet to consume a selection of foods and beverages that are, shock horror, rich in protein. Ok, sarcasm aside, high protein diets aren't actually just about eating vast amounts of protein, there is a fair bit more science behind them. You see, in order to follow a high protein diet, you more often than not, will have to eliminate one of the other three macronutrients required by your body, the other two being fats, and, carbohydrates. Most high protein diets place an emphasis on low carbohydrate consumption, and rightfully so. High protein and low carb diets are renowned for their ability to be able to provide the body with healthy and sustainable fat loss, whilst keeping muscle mass and energy levels sky high in the process.

How do they work? – Basically, by following a high protein and low carb diet, you will eliminate your body's preferred source of energy, which ordinarily would have come from the carbohydrates, and will instead force your body to burn off its natural body fat reserves and to use them as the primary source of energy instead. By restricting carb consumption, the body falls into a state known as ketosis, in which ketone enzymes are secreted by the liver, and enter the bloodstream. Once ketosis has been achieved, the body then becomes a natural fat burning machine. By consuming a large amount of protein, and a moderate-to-high amount of fat, your body will now rely on both of those macros in order to function correctly, whilst preserving muscle mass in the process.

What are the benefits of a high protein diet? – There are many benefits associated with a high protein diet, including, but not limited to:

  • Increased energy levels
  • Enhanced fat loss
  • Improved post-workout recovery
  • Appetite suppression
  • Improved muscle mass and definition
  • Never feeling hungry
  • Better selection of tasty foods
  • And more…

Finally, which foods and drinks can be consumed? – Put simply, as long as the food doesn't contain any form of carbohydrate or simple sugar, you can not only consume it on this diet, but you can also consume as much of it as you like. Meat, fish, eggs, seafood, nuts, seeds, and cheese, for example, are all perfect for this diet, as are natural oils and butters as well. As far as beverages go, as well as water, you can also enjoy coffee, with natural sweetener if you wish, as well as cream instead of milk.
